A week of Wonderful blessings
What an amazing week this has been. God has blessed us with so much, and everyday I am so greatful for those many blessings. When we started this journey Dec. 10 I never could have imagined the roads we would have to go down, the choices we would have to make, but knowing the whole time those choices are what got us here today. And while this journey is still far from over I look at each day and thank him for it. Now back to the week, devon is getting stronger everyday and Monday he was walking the hall like a pro, now he hasn't done that in awhile because of the problems with his knee. So while walking doesn't seem like a big deal it is a huge step for devon. Also Monday they drew blood for his PRA which is a test to look at the antibodies in his blood which also gives us an idea of the options for hearts, and if they would be able to relist him everywhere instead of just Michigan soon. The results from that would come Wednesday. Tuesday was another low key day but devon was in good spirits. Wednesday was great, he slept great and finally eat some food which is few and far between he rode the bike around and walked more, he also got a great laugh out of embaressing his mom in front of all the nurses and docs on his floor, but I couldn't have paid a billion dollars to get him to smile like he did, it was so great to see that smile again, let me tell you those are few and far between to! So the day went on and still no results from his PRA, but that was ok because the news we got Thursday was worth the wait. Another great thing happened they took him off his heprin which is a blood thinner he has been on since his arrive at Mott. He finally was able to switch to the oral version which is huge, one less thing on his IV pole. So on to Thursday, we got great news about his PRA, the antibodies had lowered not a ton but lowered so that was great they also felt happy with the rest of his numbers enough to relist him on the national list!!!! We were so excited he had done it, all that hard work from being taken off because of his surgeries and then finally to see that all that hard work paid off was truly a gift from God! He was so excited he actually went to a hospital event called Skyline on another floor where other patients can come and enjoy music and food, this is something he use to do when we first got there but hadn't done it since he got really sick right before his other surgeries and the placement of the berlin heart. Again, words can not describe how my heart was bursting with love and thanks and excitement. New friends from GR came on Wednesday there 2 year old has the same heart defect as devon and Thursday he had his last surgery which went great, more prayers answered. And to finish this week off he had another great day. His Aunt Meredith came in from Maryland to visit so he was excited, he hadn't seen her since around new years. He ate lunch again and for 2 days no vomiting which is great because that usually happens everyday, and makes him feel yucky. So again I say what a Blessed Blessed week! Cant wait to see the next week of great things.

The journey begins
So this is my attempt at a daily journal to help me through the process of waiting for Devon to receive his new heart and come home, and to look back and see how far we have come. Now I know I am starting this 18 weeks to late, but well better late then never.
